Anxiety is your body speaking to you
I've always been fascinated by anxiety — the way it shapes our thoughts, our behavior, and how we move through the world. My clients usually discover that their struggles make sense when we look at their experiences as a whole. You aren't overreacting. Your nervous system learned to protect you, and it's still trying.
Before opening my practice, I worked in residential care, crisis work, and case management — walking alongside people in some of their hardest moments. That work deepened my understanding of resilience, healing, and how much genuine human connection matters.
It also showed me what I didn't want: therapy that feels clinical, rushed, and cold. So I built something different. Peace & Serenity Counseling is intentionally warm and unhurried — dim lighting, comfortable seating, casual conversation, maybe a snack. A place where you can slow down and show up as yourself.
How I Work
Therapy with me is collaborative, built on trust, safety, and authentic connection. We'll often start by getting curious: Where did this pattern begin? What is your anxiety trying to tell you? Drawing on psychodynamic and attachment-based therapy, we'll explore the deeper roots of what you're carrying — because insight is where lasting change starts.
Understanding alone isn't the whole picture, though. I also bring in practical, evidence-based tools: nervous system–informed approaches to help your body feel grounded, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to reconnect you with your values, and Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, panic, and anxiety that's dug in deep.
Over time, I’ll help you live a life that feels more calm, and more confident in your own capacity to handle whatever comes.
I’m also very intentional about the therapeutic space itself. My office is warm and calm — good lighting, a comfortable chair, snacks if you want them. Less like a sterile clinic, more like a place where you can exhale.
Here's what I believe:
Your anxiety makes sense
Every feeling you have is there for a reason, even if you don't know the reason yet.
Slowing down is a skill
We want to shift from functioning on autopilot to functioning with awareness — that's where intentional choices become possible.
This isn't about becoming someone different
It's about understanding why you respond the way you do, and moving from self-criticism toward self-compassion.
